Stereophonics Gig Review

This was Stereophonics’ second appearance this year, after playing a sold out show in March, a few days after releasing their latest album.

Speaking of the new album, you should know it is really good. Give it a listen if you haven’t already done so. The setlist was sprinkled with tracks from the album and the crowd not only loved them, but sang along to most of them, especially “Indian Summer”.

The Lumineers at The O2 - Gig Review

They say that insanity is doing the exact same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Having already seen The Lumineers live twice in the past few years, seeing them graduate from playing mid-sized venues to selling out major stadiums, I felt like I had a pretty clear idea of what to expect for the third time around. Even for a band with a track record for surprising me, there are only so many ways that a band to up their game in a live setting.

Wolf Alice must have been feeling the weight of lofty expectations and quite a lot of pressure on night 2 of their sold-out 4-night residency in the O2 Forum, Kentish Town. This is their home territory, a 4-night sell-out and alas their bass player Theo Ellis was sick-noted due to a swollen elbow. This resulted in a last-minute change to the support line-up where Kent duo Slaves were drafted in. Mercifully myself and my fellow attendee deliberately arrived too late to see them and got to the venue in time to see the final support act Bloody Knees.

It's Still Rock and Roll with Billy Joel

by JasonBryan / May 15, 2017 / 0 comments

“So this is where the Dodgers ended up,” Joel mused as he first addressed the crowd with a quick anecdote of his childhood in Brooklyn. He opened the night with “Movin’ Out”. Then went into a rocking rendition of Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” to intro “My Life” before addressing the audience. A few quips later he was doing his impersonation of Elton John while covering his “Your Song” for a verse. Then giving the audience a choice to hear “Just the Way You Are” or “Vienna” the crowd wanted “Vienna” and they got it.
